Cleaning out the inbox

Clearing out the Hotmail box today, in hopes that I'll find a coupon or deal for car repairs. (Honda Fit needs new brakes and a transmission tune-up, sigh.) I haven't succeeded in finding a car-related deal, but I have come across some interesting links in the pile of junk mail.

ReverbNation suggested a few artists. Here are some thoughts:

Skyler : Country music with angsty vocals that are sitting on top of the music. The balance is all out of whack, IMHO. Honestly, it sounds like Steven Lynch, without the jokes. Skip Skyler but check out "Craig Christ".

Criminal Talk: I'm not ready to scratch this group, though their song "Bridges" is not quite right. I like the new-wave sound and the vocalist's style but the two don't go together.

Allred: Talented kid, but all I can find is covers. I'd like to see what he comes up with on his own; I'll check back in later.

Jesse Kinch: The whole TV competition route is very gimmicky but this guy has got a career ahead of him in blues. He's Jonny Lang for another generation. Very excited to see what happens for him.

Marching into Pineapples

Today, for all intents and purposes, is still March 1st. My mood was good once I hit the time clock at work, though I was a bit irked that Jason didn't wake me up from the couch...or set an alarm to keep me from oversleeping. I woke at 5:47 and made it in around 6:15. No breakfast, unless you count coffee. Desk got busy around 9:00, though sales were meh. Worked with Allison, went to Southcity Riot show in Rome and caught up with the crew and met Megan's friend Kyle. No gym today; nobody was up for a class and I wasn't feeling particularly self-motivated. Watched some Netflix instead. Ate at Marietta Diner for the first time, had a huuuuge sauteed veggie and mashed potato plate & a huuuuge piece of Boston Creme Pie cake. Leftovers. Jason continues to push my buttons with lack of maturity and manners but it's probably PMS that's making me so irked by his normal behavior patterns.
